There is a photograph of a 1950s study room at the Maison de la Tunisie, designed by Charlotte Perriand and Jean Prouvé with the help of Pierre Faucheux.

What if in 2014, this room was reactivated as a display space? This shift interrogates the function of a document as a space which could turn into the blue print of a “projected” exhibition. Reflecting on nostalgia and remontage, “Musiques d’autrefois, échos d’aujourd’hui” will look at the work of Pierre Faucheux (1924–1999) and aims at exploring a poetics of the document visible, amongst others, in some of his design gestures done for the Livre de Poche, Le Seuil and the Club des Libraires de France.

This documentary, directed by Adrien Faucheux, explores the plethoric and innovative works of French graphic designer Pierre Faucheux. Calling himself an architect of the book and a writer of space, Pierre Faucheux (1924-1999) was a marker of the important moves that happened in the French editorial field during the post-wars years. The documentary sheds light on Faucheux’s creativity and features contributions by Richard Hollis, Jérôme Faucheux, Étienne Robial, Robert Massin, Jean-François Lyon-Caen, Bénédicte Chaljub…
