All designers consciously or unconsciously base their work on references. These can be historic (archives) or contemporary (environment), and can come from varied fields such as music, cinema, literature etc.) What are these references? How do we (designers) translate them into our work? What kind of references do we use in our practice? How do we use and map our references? The aim of the workshop is to identify, understand, explain, link and "map" our references. Based on a guideline (some interesting starting points), every participant will think, list, research everything that he usually uses as references in his work, creating a large map of images, texts, ideas. Ideally this map of references will be layed out in an interesting, informative and efficient way, as a poster or simply as a large mood-board.
